Sikalastic® 560 GCC Eco-Friendly Liquid Applied Roof Waterproofing
Water-based liquid applied waterproofing membrane designed for exposed roof protection and long-term durability. Based on Sika's Co-Elastic Technology, it forms a seamless, highly elastic, and UV-resistant coating that protects surfaces against water ingress, weathering, and thermal movement.
Performs reliably under extreme UAE climate conditions including 45°C+ temperatures, intense UV exposure, and sudden humidity variations. Its elastic, UV-stable formulation accommodates thermal expansion and contraction of roof substrates, preventing cracks and membrane failure. White variant's SRI ≥ 90 actively reduces roof surface temperatures, directly addressing UAE's heat island effect in dense urban areas.
UAE's trusted construction chemistry partner — expert coordination, authentic supply, site-ready delivery.
What is Sikalastic® 560 GCC?
Sikalastic® 560 GCC is a one-component, water-based liquid applied waterproofing membrane designed for exposed roof protection and long-term durability. Based on Sika's Co-Elastic Technology, it forms a seamless, highly elastic, and UV-resistant coating that protects surfaces against water ingress, weathering, and thermal movement.
It is cold-applied and ready to use — no mixing required — offering excellent adhesion to a wide range of substrates including concrete, metal, and existing bituminous systems. Suitable for new construction and refurbishment, it also provides reflective properties that help reduce heat gain, making it ideal for UAE climate conditions and cool roof specifications.
Key Performance Benefits
- Forms a seamless, joint-free waterproof membrane — eliminates leakage paths
- High UV resistance — designed for continuous exposure to intense Gulf sunlight
- Excellent elasticity and crack-bridging, accommodates thermal movement of roofs
- Waterproof and weather-resistant — protects against rain, humidity, and ponding water
- Cold-applied, ready-to-use — no mixing required, easy and fast application
- Strong adhesion to concrete, metal, bituminous membranes, and existing coatings
- Reflective properties help reduce heat absorption — cool roof effect, SRI ≥ 90 (white)
- Reaction to fire — Class A rated
- Low maintenance, long service life under UAE climatic stress conditions
- Ideal for residential, commercial, and industrial roofing applications
Ready
Sikalastic® 560 GCC is supplied ready to use. Stir thoroughly for 1 minute using a slow-speed drill (330–500 rpm) with basket-type paint mixer before application. No measuring, no two-component mixing — open the pail, stir, and apply.

Application Guide — UAE Site Conditions
Follow these steps for optimum protection performance in UAE's hot, coastal, and high-humidity environments.
Surface Preparation
All substrates must be cleaned and prepared using high pressure water jet, abrasive blast cleaning, scarifying equipment, or other suitable approved mechanical methods. New concrete should be cured for at least 28 days and have a pull-off strength ≥ 1.5 N/mm². Loose friable material and weak concrete must be completely removed to achieve an open textured surface. All surface defects such as blowholes and voids must be fully exposed.
Substrate Repair & Levelling
Repairs to the substrate, filling of joints, blowholes/voids and surface levelling must be carried out using the appropriate Sika® products. High spots must be removed by grinding. Outgassing is a naturally occurring phenomenon of concrete that can produce pinholes in applied coatings — assess the concrete carefully for moisture content, air entrapment, and surface finish. Installing Sikalastic® 560 GCC when the concrete temperature is falling or stable can reduce outgassing.
Substrate-Specific Preparation
Different substrates require specific preparation approaches:
- Cementitious: Prime before applying
- Brick & stone: Mortar joints must be sound and flush pointed; use localised reinforcement over connection joints
- Bituminous felt: Ensure firmly adhered or mechanically fixed; must not contain badly degraded areas; prime before applying
- Metals: Must be clean, sound, rust-free, and free of oil/grease; abrade to reveal bright metal; use localised reinforcement over joints and fixings
- Paints/coatings: Ensure sound adhesion; remove oxidised layers; use localised reinforcement over joints
Mixing (Stirring)
Prior to application, stir Sikalastic® 560 GCC thoroughly for 1 minute to achieve a homogeneous mixture using a slow speed (330–500 rpm) drill and basket type paint mixer. Over-mixing must be avoided to minimise air entrainment. This is a single-component product — no two-component mixing is required.
First Coat Application
Prior to application, the priming coat must have cured tack-free. Protect adjacent areas with adhesive tape or plastic sheeting. Sikalastic® 560 GCC is applied in 3–6 coats as per the required system. Prior to each coat, the indicated waiting times must be followed. Apply Sika® Flexitape Heavy or Sika® Reemat Premium at areas of high movement, irregular substrate, or to bridge cracks, joints, and seams.
Equipment & Cleaning
Tools required: high pressure jet washer (min. 150 bar), squeegee, drill and paddle (300–500 rpm), solvent resistant short-piled roller, thick hair brush, and airless spray equipment (recommended for corrugated sheets — minimum two spray applied layers). Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use. Hardened/cured material can only be removed mechanically.
Substrate Temperature
Do not apply when substrate temperature exceeds 40°C or in direct midday sun during UAE summer. Rapid evaporation prevents proper film formation. Apply in early morning or after sunset.
Moisture Content
Substrate moisture must be below 6% before application. Wet or damp substrates trap moisture beneath the membrane and cause blistering or delamination — particularly on concrete roof slabs.
Over-Mixing
Do not over-mix the product — excessive agitation introduces air bubbles that create pinholes in the cured membrane. Stir gently for 1 minute only at 330–500 rpm using a basket-type mixer.
