What is Lamposilex?
Lamposilex is a pre-blended powder binder composed of high-strength cements and proprietary admixtures, formulated in the Mapei Research Laboratories to instantly stop water leaks — even under active hydrostatic pressure. Mixed with water, it forms a plastic-thixotropic paste applied directly into cracks, holes, and rigid joints without formwork.
It sets in approximately 1–2 minutes, achieving very high compressive and flexural strength within just 30 minutes. Contains no chlorides and is suitable for use in potable water structures. Compatible with all subsequent Mapei waterproofing systems for a complete below-grade protection solution.

Application Guide — UAE Site Conditions
Follow these steps for optimum leak-stopping performance with Lamposilex in UAE's hot, high-humidity, and coastal environments.
Cavity & Crack Preparation
Enlarge cracks or holes by chiselling to create a dovetail profile so the wider part faces inward — this prevents blowout under hydraulic pressure. Remove all loose, weak, or contaminated material. Clean thoroughly with water to remove dust and debris. Wait until excess water has evaporated. The ideal condition is a cavity saturated with water but with a dry surface.
Mixing
Pour 1 kg of Lamposilex into a container holding 280 g of clean, cold water and mix vigorously by hand with a trowel until a homogeneous, lump-free paste is obtained. Do not use a mechanical mixer. Do not add lime, cement, or gypsum. Prepare only as much material as can be applied in a single operation. Do not re-temper with water once mixing begins.
Stopping Active Water Leaks
Mould the freshly mixed Lamposilex by gloved hand into the shape of a cork or plug slightly larger than the cavity opening. Wait a few seconds until the mix begins to stiffen slightly, then force it firmly into the crack or hole. Maintain manual pressure for 2–3 minutes until fully set. For multiple leakage points, work from the perimeter inward.
Waterproof Sealing of Rigid Joints
For rigid joints between walls and floor slabs, work the freshly mixed Lamposilex into the joint cavity immediately after preparation using a trowel or float. Ensure the joint is completely filled without voids. Keep the treated surface damp for the first 15–20 minutes after application to aid curing.
Curing & Overcoating
Lamposilex achieves very high compressive and flexural strength within 30 minutes of setting. Once all leaks have been stopped, the surface is ready to receive a cementitious waterproofing membrane. Soak the repaired substrate with clean water before applying the overlying system — surface must be visibly damp but free of standing water.
Cleaning
Clean all tools with clean water immediately after use before the material sets. After setting, residues can only be removed by mechanical means. Do not leave unused drums or bags exposed to sunlight — store in a cool, dry indoor location.
Extreme Heat
At UAE summer temperatures, pot life reduces to under 45 seconds. Always use refrigerated cold water and prepare test batches before full application. Avoid exposing drum to direct sunlight.
No Re-Tempering
Do not add more water once mixing begins. Do not add lime, cement, gypsum, or any additives. Adding water after initial hydration destroys the structural integrity of the plug.
Not a Final Finish
Lamposilex is a plugging and pre-waterproofing compound only. Must be overcoated with a compatible Mapei cementitious waterproofing membrane for full durable protection.
