In summer months, substrate surface temperatures on UAE sites can reach 55–65°C, reducing standard adhesive open time from 20 minutes to as little as 5 minutes. For UAE bathrooms and wet areas, a C2TE-classified flexible tile adhesive - such as Mapei Keraflex Maxi S1, Laticrete 254 Platinum, or Sika CeraFlex - is the correct specification. The 'E' rating extends open time which is critical in the UAE summer heat. Always use with a tanking membrane on shower walls and seal all perimeter joints with flexible silicone - never grout.

Cementitious grout (CG1/CG2 class) is a cement-based powder mixed with water and is the standard solution for most applications. Epoxy grout (RG class) is a resin system that is completely impermeable once cured. Epoxy grout is required for pools, commercial kitchens, chemical plants, and any situation requiring hygiene compliance. It costs more but never stains and lasts significantly longer.

No. Standard C1T adhesives are not suitable for tiles above 600x600mm. Specify a high-polymer C2TE adhesive and use the double-bond method: apply adhesive with a 10–12mm square-notch trowel to the substrate and back-butter the tile with a skim coat. This ensures the 80% minimum mortar contact required. In wet areas minimum contact must be 95%.

For standard C2TE adhesives, wait a minimum of 24 hours before grouting. In UAE summer, adhesives may appear to set faster but bond strength is still developing - always wait the full cure time specified on the product data sheet. For rapid-setting C2FTE adhesives, grouting can begin in 2–3 hours. Never grout earlier than specified, even if the adhesive feels firm to touch.
