What is Adesilex P9?
Adesilex P9 is a high-performance, polymer-modified cementitious tile adhesive developed for the installation of ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles, vitrified tiles, mosaics, and moisture-stable natural stone on walls and floors. Classified as a C2TE adhesive according to EN 12004, it provides enhanced bond strength, reduced vertical slip, and extended open time for professional tile installation in both interior and exterior environments.
Its advanced formulation delivers excellent adhesion to conventional cement-based substrates while allowing installers greater flexibility during tile positioning and adjustment. The thixotropic consistency prevents tile sagging on vertical applications, making it particularly suitable for wall tiling projects where alignment accuracy is critical. When mixed with Isolastic (diluted 1:1 with water), the system achieves S1 deformability — suitable for demanding applications such as balconies, terraces, wet areas, swimming pools, and basins.

Application Guide — UAE Site Conditions
Follow these recommendations to achieve maximum adhesion, tile stability, and long-term installation performance under UAE site conditions — including high temperatures, thermal movement, and demanding commercial environments. Always refer to the current Mapei TDS.
Surface Preparation
Ensure the substrate is structurally sound, fully cured, clean, and free from dust, laitance, grease, oil, wax, paint, curing compounds, and loose particles. Cement renders should be cured approximately 7 days per centimetre of thickness; cement screeds for a minimum of 28 days. Gypsum-based substrates and anhydrite screeds must be completely dry, dust-free, and primed using suitable primers such as Primer G or Eco Prim T before adhesive application.
Mixing
Pour clean water into a suitable mixing container and gradually add Adesilex P9 powder while mixing with a low-speed mechanical mixer until a smooth, lump-free paste is achieved. Grey requires 31–33% water (~7.75–8.25 L per 25 kg bag); White requires 36–38% water (~9–9.5 L per bag). Allow the mixture to stand for approximately 5 minutes, then re-mix briefly before application. For enhanced deformability, mix with Isolastic diluted 1:1 with water in place of part of the mixing water, per the Mapei TDS.
Adhesive Application
Apply using a notched trowel selected according to tile size and substrate. First spread a thin contact layer using the flat side of the trowel to improve substrate wetting, then immediately comb additional adhesive with the notched side to achieve the required bed thickness. For internal walls and light-duty installations, ensure adequate adhesive transfer to the back of the tile. For exterior applications, swimming pools, balconies, terraces, and high-traffic areas, complete adhesive coverage is recommended.
Tile Installation
Install tiles firmly into the fresh adhesive using a slight twisting motion to ensure complete contact. Under normal conditions, Adesilex P9 provides an open time of approximately 30 minutes. High temperatures, strong winds, direct sunlight, and highly absorbent substrates may significantly reduce this. Regularly check that the adhesive surface remains fresh and has not skinned before tile placement. Tiles may generally be adjusted within approximately 60 minutes after installation.
Curing & Protection
Protect newly installed tiles from rain, running water, frost, and excessive sunlight immediately after installation. Avoid exposing tiled surfaces to water for at least 24 hours after installation. Protect installations from direct sunlight and extreme weather conditions for approximately 5–7 days during the curing period.
Grouting, Finishing & Performance
Wall joints may generally be grouted after 4–8 hours and floor joints after 24 hours, using compatible Mapei cementitious or epoxy grouts such as Ultracolor Plus for durable, colour-consistent joints. Seal expansion and movement joints with appropriate Mapei sealants. Once fully cured, Adesilex P9 provides excellent adhesion, reliable wall and floor performance, high moisture resistance, strong thermal-movement stability, and long-term durability — suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, shopping centres, hotels, hospitals, educational facilities, balconies, terraces, swimming pools, and general tile installations throughout the UAE.
Correct Water Ratio per Colour
White and Grey require different water ratios (36–38% vs 31–33%). Using the Grey ratio for White (or vice versa) gives the wrong consistency — affecting slip resistance, open time, and bond. Always confirm the colour before dosing water.
Unsuitable Substrates
Do not use on wood, fibre-cement boards, or metal surfaces, or where adhesive thickness above 5 mm is required. For these and highly flexible substrates, upgrade with Isolastic to S1 or specify a dedicated flexible adhesive.
Open Time in Heat
Although P9 offers an extended 30-minute open time, UAE summer heat, wind, and direct sun still shorten it sharply. Check for skinning before placing each tile and work in smaller sections on exposed terraces and façades.
