What is Sikalastic® 152 AE?
Sikalastic® 152 AE is a two-component, fibre-reinforced cementitious waterproofing coating designed to provide flexible protection for concrete and masonry surfaces. It combines waterproofing and surface protection in one system, offering excellent crack-bridging ability and durability for structures exposed to moisture and movement.
Engineered for demanding environments, it performs reliably in humid and tropical conditions, can be applied on slightly damp substrates, and delivers long-term resistance against water ingress, carbon dioxide, and salts. Ideal for bathrooms, terraces, water tanks, and foundations across residential and industrial projects.

Application Guide — UAE Site Conditions
Follow these steps to achieve maximum waterproofing and crack-bridging performance under UAE's high heat, humidity, and fast-drying environments.
Surface Preparation
Ensure the substrate is sound, clean, and free from dust, oil, grease, laitance, or loose particles. All cracks, honeycombs, and surface defects must be repaired prior to application. Pre-wet the surface to achieve a saturated surface dry (SSD) condition — no standing water should be present.
Joints & Detailing
All construction joints, penetrations, and floor-to-wall junctions must be pre-treated before coating. Provide coving (fillets) at junctions to avoid stress concentration. For high-stress areas, embed alkali-resistant glass fibre mesh into the first coat while still wet.
Mixing Process
Mix using a low-speed electric mixer (~500 rpm):
- Shake Component A thoroughly before opening
- Add Component B gradually into A while mixing continuously
- Continue mixing for minimum 3 minutes until a uniform, lump-free slurry is achieved
- Do not add water or any additives — use full kit proportions only
Application Method
Apply using trowel, brush, or roller depending on surface conditions. Apply first coat with firm, even pressure ensuring consistent thickness across the surface. After initial drying (6–12 hrs), apply the second coat to achieve a continuous waterproof layer.
Curing & Layer Build-Up
Allow each coat to dry before applying the next layer. Multiple coats ensure proper waterproofing thickness and performance — minimum 2 layers recommended for all applications.
Finishing & Protection
After full curing, protect the membrane with tiles (using cementitious adhesive) or screed/protective layers. Sikalastic® 152 AE is a base waterproofing system, not a final exposed finish — protection is required in all applications.
Cleaning of Tools
Clean all tools immediately with water after application. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically — do not allow material to set on tools or equipment.
Post-Application Performance
Once cured, the system provides a seamless waterproof barrier, crack-bridging protection, and resistance to water ingress, carbonation, and salts. Suitable for bathrooms, terraces, balconies, water-retaining structures, and substructures across UAE environments.
Extreme Heat
Do not apply when surface temperature exceeds 50°C or in direct midday sun. High temperatures accelerate drying and risk shrinkage cracks in the membrane.
Standing Water
Substrate must be SSD — saturated surface dry. Standing water dilutes the mix and prevents proper bonding and waterproofing performance.
Exposed Finish
Not suitable as a final exposed surface finish. Must be protected with tiles, screed, or protective overlay after full curing for all applications.
